Hootini is a nine piece upbeat brass band from South London. With a wide range of musical influences including jazz, Afro-Latin, hip hop, drum and bass, and funk, Hootini have a unique and original sound.
6:30pm: Brixton Chamber Orchestra (Classical Set)
Brixton Chamber Orchestra champion orchestral music, presenting it to new audiences in unexpected venues. They revel in innovative collaborations with all sorts of artists and genres – Grime to Gospel, Disco to Drum and Bass, Classical to Jazz, and everything inbetween. They will be treating you all to an exclusive classical set on our Village Green stage.
5:15pm: The Fabulous Honeys
The Fabulous Honeys are London’s sweetest big band. They formed in 2015 as a (mostly) female big band and have gone from strength to strength since. They play exciting arrangements of swing music, with a little bit of latin, funk and blues thrown in for good measure.
4pm: Southside Soul
Southside Soul are a London-based soul band playing the favourites of Motown and Memphis. With a classic, retro-performance style they’ll play music to make you move, ranging from Otis Redding thru Stevie Wonder, Wilson Pickett to Sam & Dave. Featuring the powerful saxophone of Andy Dummett, who has performed with many of Motown’s greatest legends, including Martha Reeves, Edwin Starr, Eddie Floyd and Ben E King, plus Rocking Bob from the ‘The Informers’, on guitar and backing vocals.
This will be the band’s first time at the Lambeth Country Show and they are very excited about bringing their good-times sound to Brockwell Park. Make a date for some dancing and see you there.
1:30pm: Lambeth Sounds presents...
Enjoy the sounds of young Lambeth with a mini showcase of talented young musicians from schools and local music projects as they perform a mixture of vocal and instrumental sounds for your listening pleasure – featuring SWeet! Recorder Consort CIC, Younger Youthsayers, Junior Tomorrow’s Warriors, Elm Court School Live Band and live band “Rolling Brook” from Heathbrook Primary school.
Sunday 9 June
7:15pm: Ceilidh Tree
The perfect way to finish the weekend off is with Ceilidh Tree who will be leading you through a mass participatory ceilidh at the Village Green stage. Ceilidh Tree’s ace fiddles and amazing caller are guaranteed to get you dancing, whether you are ceilidh virgins or veterans.
6pm: Brasstermind
Brasstermind are a 10 piece brass band from Brixton playing New Orleans / soul / funk / afrobeat / grunge brass sounds.
5pm: JOM "Junior Open Mic" Mini Concert
JOM is a community group of parents that organise free open mics for young people aged between 4 and 18. Their mission is to ensure young performers feel as special as possible before, during and after their performance.
3:45pm: Lambeth Wind Orchestra
Lambeth Wind Orchestra is a community concert band based in Herne Hill. The orchestra was founded in 2008 and has around 40 members who come from across London and beyond, though they are always keen to hear from people who would like to join.
2:30pm: Raw Material presents Raw Vibrations
The Raw Material House Band comprises a collective of musicians from the South London community who all participate in a weekly session of instrumentation and songwriting in Raw Material’s own rehearsing space. The sessions are aimed at creating original music and showcasing the unique role that each member can play in the band, regardless of musical experience, background or skill level. This year at the Lambeth Country show, they bring a selection of new material, written and developed collaboratively over the course of the programme.
1:15pm: The Norwood School Sixth Form Band
Sixth form music students at The Norwood School study RSL Subsidiary Diploma in Music. The students spend their time mastering their instruments and learning and rehearsing a wide variety of music and take part in numerous performances throughout the year, including gigs at well known local music venue The Railway Tavern in Tulse Hill… and now the Lambeth Country Show!
